Definition-

Test of English as a foreign language (TOEFL/ˈtoʊ fəl/ TOH-fəl) is a standardized test for measuring the English proficiency of non-native speakers who want to enroll in English-speaking universities. The TOEFL is one of the  most important English language tests in the world,  including IELTS, Cambridge Assessment English and Trinity College London.

Difference-

IELTS- International English Language Testing System tests you capacity to speak,listen,read and write English. Although it is based in the United Kingdom, you can choose American as well as British English.There are two main strands of IELTS- Academic reading and General Training.IELTS uses a band system from 1 to 9, with separate scores in the four sections being averaged to arrive at your final score. Your total result will be rounded to the nearest half bandwidth.

TOEFL-The Internet-based Test of English as a Foreign Language  (TOEFL iBT)  also tests your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in English, with an emphasis on authentic  classroom communication.  You will find high level material as if you were on campus. TOEFL is an American test, but like IELTS, it allows for both British and American spelling.

TOEFL consists of four  equally weighted sections and is fully computer-based. You must both read and hear

The entire test takes about four hours, with occasional short breaks. TOEFL iBT uses a single score from 0 to 120 points. Each of the four sections (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking) is worth up to 30 points and you will receive your score for each section along with your overall score.
