Definition : 

Vocabulary is one of the most important aspects of language. It is the set of words that a person knows and can use in speech or writing. A person's vocabulary can be broad or narrow, depending on their level of education and exposure to different words.

Vocabulary is the foundation of communication. It is the sum of all the words we use in our daily lives. Without vocabulary, we would not be able to express our ideas or understand those of others.

Types : 

Vocabulary is divided into different categories, each with its own function and rules. 

The four main types of vocabulary are:

1. Content words

2. Function words

3. Structure words

4. Reference words

1. Content words

Content words are the words we use to talk about the things and ideas around us. They include nouns (words for things), verbs (action words), adjectives (describing words), and adverbs (words that tell us how or when something happens).

2. Function words 

Function words are the words that we use to connect the different parts of our sentences. They include prepositions (such as in, on, under), articles (a, an, the), and conjunctions (such as and, but, or).

3. Structure words

Structure words are the words that we use to give our sentences a specific meaning. They include pronouns (such as he, she, it), determiners (such as a, an, the), and auxiliary verbs (such as can, could, will).

4. Reference words

Reference words are the words we use to refer to specific things or ideas. They include proper nouns (the names of specific people, places, or things), Demonstratives (such as this, that, these, those), and Indefinites (such as someone, something, anyone, nothing).

Each type of vocabulary has its own set of rules. 

For example :  content words can be.

Examples:

Nouns:

  1. Apple
  2. Banana
  3. Chair
  4. Desk
  5. Computer

Verbs:

  1. to eat
  2. to sit
  3. to work

Conclusion : 

The conclusion of a vocabulary is a list of words that are similar in meaning.

Synonyms are words with similar meanings.

Antonyms are words with opposite meanings.
