Should I take IELTS on computer or paper?

You can choose to take IELTS on a computer or paper for both the General Training and Academic tests. The test format, question types, time allocated to each test part and content is the same for both IELTS on computer and IELTS on paper test. The only difference is in your test day experience.

Both the General Training and Academic IELTS tests can be taken on paper or a computer.

Both the IELTS on computer and the IELTS on paper test share the same format, question categories, time allotment, and material. Your test-day experience is the only thing that differs.

You will use a computer to complete the Reading, Listening, and Writing sections of the IELTS test if you decide to do so. The face-to-face interview portion of the IELTS Speaking examination is still present. The Reading, Listening, and Writing tests will be taken either just before or right after the Speaking test.

IELTS on computer:

  • Complete the Speaking test in person with an IELTS examiner and the Reading, Listening, and Writing portions of the test on a computer.

  • The results of your test will be accessible 3 to 5 days later.

  • Whenever you schedule a test, look for the computer icon.

  • testing up to three times per day, seven days a week.

IELTS on paper:

  • Complete the speaking portion of the IELTS test face-to-face with an examiner after completing the test's reading, listening, and writing portions on paper.

  • After taking the test, the results will be accessible 13 days later.

  • Find the paper icon when scheduling your test.

  • Up to 48 days of testing each year (Thursday and Saturday)
