Skimming the technique of reading the provided text rapidly and getting a general overview of the passage. This helps the reader to get a basic idea of the things that the passage consists of.

Techniques-
  • Read the questions and the title quickly. They provide a synopsis of the passage. 
  • The nouns, primary verbs, adjectives, and adverbs should only be skimmed. Never consider terms like "the" or "a" or "in" or Words in a few paragraphs should be underlined. Then read them once more. 
  • Observe simply the subject, verb, and object of each sentence or clause in brief (if there is one). Avoid focusing on adjectives and adverbs.
  • Mark the connecting terms, such as additionally, additionally, although, etc., without reading the text. You should keep practising until you can glance at a text and instantly recognise the linking words. Therefore, there is no need to designate them.
  • By skimming, you can identify typical paragraph structuring techniques like effects, causes, methods, etc. 
  • To get a broad sense of the text, merely skim the nouns. Know the distinctions among a noun, verb, adjective, and adverb. Recognize them and become familiar with how they are used in the phrase.
