An email cover letter- CEFR

Learn how to write a cover letter or email to respond to a job advert.
Definition-

Are you a pre-intermediate (CEFR level A2) English learner? This section provides writing practise to assist you in creating short, simple texts, notes, and messages. Messages, forum posts, personal profiles, forms, and emails are all examples of text. 

How to write?
  • In the subject line, be specific about the job you're applying for. 
  • Begin your email with Dear Mr/Mrs/Ms + surname. 
  • Tell us where you saw the ad. 
  • Tell them what job you're applying for. You may use the sentence I'm writing in response to the job advertisement for... 
  • Write a brief paragraph describing why you are qualified for the position. Mention your education, credentials, work experience, and skills. 
  • Attach a CV (also known as a résumé in the United States) detailing your qualifications and experience. 
  • Finish with I hope to hear from you soon or I look forward to hearing from you soon. 
  • Sign off with Best wishes or Best regards.

From: David Kelly, HR manager

Subject: Application for sales manager position 

Dear Mr Kelly,

I'm writing in response to the job posting for a sales manager on the ABC Jobs website. 

I have five years of sales experience. I've spent the last three years as a team leader in a large store, managing a team of 20 sales assistants. I have prior experience hiring, training, and managing employees. I have excellent communication skills and am fluent in Italian, Spanish, and English. 

I have attached my CV, which contains additional information about my background and qualifications. 

I'm hoping to hear from you soon.
